Course structure

Weeks 1 to 2: Foundations. Tools, clipper guards, sectioning, health and safety, and your first cuts on models.
Weeks 3 to 5: Cutting fundamentals. Clipper work, scissor over comb, tapers and your first fades.
Weeks 6 to 8: Fades and blending. Low, mid and high fades, skin fades and seamless blending.
Weeks 9 to 10: Beards and finishing. Beard shaping, line-ups, styling products and finishing.
Weeks 11 to 12: Clients and assessment. Consultation, timing, real client cuts, portfolio and final assessment.

About the course

Complete Barbering for Beginners is for people starting from zero. You learn in our academy, alongside the Decent Cut barbers, so you see how a busy, award-winning shop really works from your first week.

Every session is hands-on. You practise on live models from early on, with an experienced barber beside you to correct your technique as you go. Classes are kept small so you are never left waiting for help.

By the end you will have cut a wide range of hair types and styles, built a portfolio of your work, and earned a CPD certificate you can show employers or use to start working for yourself.
